UP
We just caught the standard (non-3D) version of Disney and Pixar’s new movie, UP, at the local theater. I didn’t know what to expect heading into the movie. I hadn’t seen trailers or read anything about it, so I was flying blind.
Honestly, I think UP is one of the best movies to come out of Pixar since Toy Story. It was creative. It was original. It was funny. There was a much deeper level of character development in this movie than in their previous projects and the story dealt with lots of tough material that you don’t usually see in an animated film. (Losing a loved one, keeping your word, doing the right thing, etc.)
I would reccomend that if you intend to see it, you should do so in a theater. It’s just one of “those” types of movies. The animation is beautiful, so unless you have a really nice bigscreen, you’re not going to want to miss this one while it’s still an option to see it in a cinema.

Tobias Bluzmanis
I doubt that most of you know who Tobias Bluzmanis is but after you read this Wired article, I’m sure that you’ll think he’s as awesome as I do. This guy can crack just about any physical locking mechanism on the market, including some of the world’s “most secure” locks. He’s worked for the federal government, private corporations, and royally pissed off every major lock manufacturer in the world.

Joseph Ducreux
The grandfather of pimpin’, as it turns out, is a French portrait artists named Joseph Ducreux.
And no, this isn’t a Photoshop. He painted this self portrait almost 230 years ago.

Science Scares Me
Physicists at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) in Livermore, California have developed the most powerful machine on the planet. Its purpose? Creating conditions like those found in stars – and in hydrogen bomb explosions. You’ll have to read the full article on Economist.com to fully wrap your head around what it is that they’re trying to accomplish. It’s absolutely insane, if you ask me.

The Evolution of 30 Corporate Logos
I knew that there was a definite trend going on in the logo design world but until I saw this article on 10 Steps, it hadn’t really sunk in. Look at the curves! They’re everywhere!
Awesome Joker Collection On Abduzeedo
There’s a great collection of fan art of The Joker from Batman over on Abduzeedo. There’s at least one piece to represent every generation of the character. Very cool to see, regardless of whether you’re a fan of the series.

Site Loading Improvements
You should notice a significant increase in the speed with which pages load here on WTC. There are three big reasons for the improvement.
First, I just finished an update batch on all of our current plugins including the ShareThis plugin, which was causing some load issues for a few users.
Second, I made several changes to the way that JavaScript processes on pages. (Twitter’s JS is garbage, if you ask me. It now loads dead last to avoid causing lag.)
Third, I made some configuration changes on the server itself. There’s a much bigger cache, now, so there shouldn’t be any timeout problems anymore.
Barring any problems with our bandwidth provider, things should now be a lot smoother!
