Suicidal Man in China Pushed From Bridge
A man named Chen Fuchau held up traffic on a bridge in an area of Beijing, China for five hours, threatening to jump, before a 66 year old retired soldier named Lian Jiansheng got tired of his shit. Jiansheng pushed through a police blockade, shook Fuchau’s hand, and then shoved him over the bridge. Fuchau fell 8 meters, landing on a partially inflated emergency cushion.

Borderlands Interview on IGN
IGN 360 has a new interview with the creators of Borderlands, the massive shooter coming in late 2009 from Gearbox Software. It appears that the style of the game has been completely revamped since the last time IGN spoke with Gearbox. They’re now claiming that the title will ship with more than 550,000 guns. Yes, you read that right – more than half a million weapons to use and abuse on the battlefield!
They’ve also integrated character persistence through single player and cooperative play, meaning that you can join up with friends or venture out on your own at any time during the campaign. They’ve also revamped the way that character development works and they reveal some details about vehicles in the interview.
Very cool, indeed! I’m really looking forward to this one. The game will be unveiled in its new iteration at this year’s E3.
Fuel
We don’t feature specific games very often here on WTC, but I thought it’d be nice to dedicate a post to Codemasters’ upcoming racing game Fuel. They just officially entered the Guinness Book of Records with the game under the title of “Largest Playable Area in a Console Game”.
The concept of Fuel is simple. You have a massive, 5560 square mile racing area set in a post apocalyptic world. You race from point A to point B. The interesting part is that you are completely free in choosing your route. Your have a smart GPS system that points out the safest route to the finish but there are no limits to the environment, so you can easily pick your own shortcuts or alternative routes.
You can choose from a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, buggies, trucks and motors.
I had the privilege of playing a demo of the game a few weeks ago and I was really impressed. The game looks absolutely fantastic but more importantly the controls are super smooth. Mastering your vehicle is really easy, so the game is all about blasting your way through the impressive open spaces and choosing the fastest path to victory.
Another feature worth mentioning is the fact that the game allows you to create your own races, which is of course easy since it’s one big open world. Just drop a starting point and finish line somewhere and you’ve got yourself a race. Codemasters demonstrated this by creating a route that spans across the map, which would eventually take you about four hours to finish! And yes, you can play all of that online as well.
Fuel will be hitting the stores next week, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
