It was a big day today in the PC gaming industry. First, ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Fallout 3 developer Bethesda Softworks acquired John Carmack’s id Software.
That in itself is huge news.
Not to be outdone, however, Warhammer Online developer Mythic Entertainment announced that Electronic Arts, their parent corporation, is merging their operation with BioWare to create perhaps the most powerful RPG/MMO development group in the world today. Activision Blizzard could have a real challenge on their hands.

Some very interesting projects should be in the works very soon.
Bethesda is just going to publish games for id Soft, they won’t be much involved in the actual development.
Still, it’s good to see studios team up, because that cancels out a lot of trouble for the developers (no worries about publishing, finance, etc.). And that means more time to spend making more and better games.
