Mad respect for the man
But… I hated his face. So much. And he did such bizarre things. It’s almost a good thing he died when he did, so as he didn’t do any more strange shit to further tarnish his name and reputation. Sad to say, but… it was just awful watching such an icon go steadily downhill for so long.
He was certainly a fantastic performer, but unfortunately…he lip synched most of his live stuff. Just watch this video, it’s pretty obvious. There were a couple moments in there near the end where he wasn’t, but just look up some of his other vids. You can usually tell a clear difference when he is or isn’t lip synching.
It’s so sad that his tremendous talent was later eclipsed by his personal demons and problems.
