Batman: Arkham Asylum

I picked up a copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum for the Xbox 360 last night. I’m only a few hours into the game at this point but it’s been an awesome experience so far. It’s a perfect mix of action and story and it drips with Batman lore.

I think the thing that really makes this game enjoyable is the dialogue. It feels in many ways like a throwback to The Animated Series, although I must admit that it would’ve been a lot cooler if Heath Ledger were still alive to voice The Joker. Regardless, the banter back and forth between him and Batman is relentless and entertaining. It feels just like the comics – right down to Batman’s ingenuity and gadgetry.

If you’re looking for a great story-driven console game, then this one will keep you busy for quite a while. I don’t see it as a title with a lot of replay value, however, so you might want to avoid it if you’re a gamer on a budget. There’s a lot of bang for your buck, here, but there’s no multiplayer and nothing in the way of mini-games to come back to.

I’m so excited they used the voices of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil for Batman and The Joker, respectively. It makes it even more like the animated series, which I love.

Oh, and there are the challenge rooms that are somewhat like mini-games. Haven’t tried those yet though. The main game is receiving all my attention for now!

I preordered this from gamestop and so I was hooked up with the Dem Bones map. Not bad. And since downloadable content has its own section, I am hopeful that other mini games are on the way sooner or later. I have it on the PS3 so the challenge mode with the joker is available and epic to me!!! I am finally able to drop nazi zombies for a while.

Having Heath Ledger would have been horrible. He was a fantastic joker, however this game isn’t just a “throwback” to the animated series…it’s the same voice actors
