It took next to no time post-launch for people to figure out how to unlock both the dedicated server function and the developer’s console for the PC version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
…and this is what people are doing with that freedom.

Before I comment on how awesome that is, I’d just like to say SUCK SHIT to all those fuckheads who, pre-release, bitched and whined and SWORE that they’d never get Modern Warfare 2 because of the lack of dedi servers. All those people who spammed the fuck out of discussions on other sites with their complains about dedi servers when the topic wasn’t even about it.
ANYWAY, noobtubes? Lol. It’s probably pretty fun.
complaints^
You do realize that dedicated servers are usually policed by the admins of said server. They can ban players who hack, instantly. Steam VAC bans take up to a week to institute, and hackers use fake steam accounts, so they just move to a new account. With P2P you have no choice of host, so pings are often shitty. Not to mention dedicated servers run on fat pipes, instead of piggybacking on the connection YOU PAY FOR. You are why IW can get away with this. You will pay for the game ,pay for the DLC, pay for your ISP, pay for XBL(or PSN), not get any freedom in the gameplay/modding, and ask for more. Dont complain when they start charging you to unlock the good weapons, you helped bring it on. They wont charge for that, you say? They already announced it.

I get tonnes of gameplay out of my copy of MW2, what’re you going on about? And why would I want to mod the game? I’m fine with the way it is. I have no desire for more, because there’s enough as it is. I’m a competitive gamer, not a controlling one. I focus on playing the game, not modifying the way it’s meant to be played.
Also, I’m gonna quote someone from the comments section on Kotaku, because I couldn’t have said it better.
“Man, Kotaku knows how to rile up the idiots with good ol’ sensationalism.
Activision’s not talking about gimping their games. Even they know that would result in less sales because, at the end of the day, it would ruin the experience by fragmenting the market, something that happened with Gears 2 and the aggressive DLC. However, we as a lot are a bunch of demanding bastards who always bitch about not enough this or not enough that, or they want other services inside the game.
They’re talking about experimenting with ways to add onto multi-player, means that go beyond map packs, and as long as they continue to offer quality product, that’s fine.
Honestly, I think some of you people just want to be offended by every little thing.”
