Allen Iverson Leaves the 76′ers Indefinitely

Allen Iverson, the star of the Philadelphia 76′ers and one of the best ball handlers to ever play professional basketball, has stepped down indefinitely due to an illness that one of his children is suffering. This is Iverson’s second time leaving the team to be with his child. He missed All-Star Weekend last time. At this point in time, nobody knows when (or if) he’s going to return to the team.

This is truly sad news. Nobody deserves to watch their child suffer.

You can read more about the situation in this NBA Fanhouse article.

“Blinged” Transformers Hats

Is it wrong that I kind of want one of these? I have no idea if or where these are actually available to own. Anyone got the details? If so, please post in the comments!

Atlas V Sonic Shockwave

This is awe-inspiring video taken at the recent Atlas V launch down at the Kennedy Space Center. You can actually see the sonic boom – it starts around the 1:50 mark.

Surrogates

I picked up Surrogates on an impulse the other night. I figured it would be a typical Bruce Willis action movie – not much substance but good for ninety minutes of entertainment. (Seriously – it’s only ninety minutes long.)

I actually got a lot more than I bargained for. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The story is interesting, the acting is decent, and there were a few twists and turns that I honestly wasn’t expecting. It didn’t have any big names other than Mr. Die Hard himself but in this case I think that actually worked in the movie’s favor.

The basic premise of the film is caught somewhere between The Matrix and I, Robot. In the not-so-distant future, a scientist named Canter develops surrogate technology that allows human beings to live their lives vicariously through robotic proxies. The problem? The technology is cheap and everyone starts using them. Without revealing too much of the story, let’s just say that things get ugly really, really fast, as you can probably imagine.

If you like science fiction and you get the chance to pick this up on a rental, do it.

Out of Context #0202

Mr. Black: Be right back. Need to poop.
Mr. Blue: Dude, wait a second.
Mr. Black: What? Hurry.
Mr. Blue: Bring your netbook.
Mr. Black: What, why?
Mr. Blue: ChatRoulette.
Mr. Black: You’re… a really disgusting person.
Mr. Black: …and that’s an amazing idea.
