George Carlin On Politicians

This is one of my favorite quotes of all time.

“Now, there’s one thing you might have noticed I don’t complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck.

Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don’t fall out of the sky. They don’t pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It’s what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out.

If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you’re going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain’t going to do any good; you’re just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it’s not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here… like, the public.

Yeah, the public sucks. There’s a nice campaign slogan for somebody: ‘The Public Sucks. F*ck Hope.’”

Rest in peace, George. We miss you.

Sugar Content of Common Food Products

To follow up on the caffeine story posted yesterday, I thought some of you might take interest in this Summer Tomato article on the sugar content of common food products. The findings are actually rather ridiculous when you really stop and think about them.

Is the FBI On Your Facebook Friends List?

Check out this lengthy article on the Seattle Times website. It’s about how the FBI is apparently using fake profiles on social media sites to eavesdrop on persons of interest. It’s just a bit disturbing, if you ask me.

I’ll let this early excerpt speak for itself.

U.S. law enforcement agents are following the rest of the Internet world into popular social-networking services, going undercover with false online profiles to communicate with suspects and gather private information, according to an internal Justice Department document that offers a tantalizing glimpse of issues related to privacy and crime-fighting.

This seems like a legal gray area to me. I understand that their intent is to catch criminals… but where do you draw the line?

The Most Caffeinated Drinks

MainStreet did an interesting feature on caffeinated beverages.

Apparently, there are companies out there that specialize in selling products made up of pretty much straight liquid caffeine. My personal favorite is Stok Black Coffee Shots, which is basically “bonus” caffeine that you add to your coffee. It’s individually packaged in those little single serving creamer cups that you usually see in restaurants.

Their pick for the number one spot, however, is something called 5150 Juice. It comes packaged in syringes and contains a staggering 500 milligrams of caffeine per ounce.

Mr. Blue: I have a rule regarding medications advertised on television.
Mr. Blue: It goes a little something like this:
Mr. Blue: Don’t fucking take that shit. They’re lying. It will fucking kill you.

Adult Fans of LEGO: A Blocumentary

I… don’t know how to feel about this. On the one hand, I love LEGO. On the other, some of the people in this video lead sad lives.

Regardless, there are some really cool creations featured.
