High Speed Book Scanner
Masatoshi Ishikawa, a professor at the University of Tokyo, has developed this high-speed scanner that can digitize a book as you flip through its pages, at a rate of about 200 pages a minute. It runs on a 1024×768 sensor operating at 500 frames per second.

Pot Calls Kettle Black
Avatar director (and giant dick face) James Cameron called Fox News talking head Glenn Beck a “fucking asshole” and then challenged him to a debate on the environment in front of a very large audience of journalists the other day. You can read more of the details in this report on The Hollywood Reporter.

F.3.A.R.
An unnamed Spanish gaming magazine apparently has the world exclusive on F.3.A.R., the third proper entry in the martial arts enhanced horror shooter created by Monolith Productions.
The first F.E.A.R. was a critically acclaimed success but the series has since been plagued with poorly made “expansions” and a rather lame sequel that barely made a blip on the gaming radar – even with the support a rather large marketing campaign.
The executives at Warner Brothers, the series’ publisher, refuse to confirm (or deny) anything at this time but the poor quality scan seen at left looks legitimate to me. Details are expected soon.

Universal to Cut ALL CD Prices to Under $10
In their continuing bid to remain relevant in today’s digital music market, Universal is slashing prices on all of their compact discs to under $10. Some albums will be priced as low as $6, making it cheaper to buy the CD than to download it. They’ve dubbed this new campaign the Velocity program, according to this Gizmodo article posted a few days ago.
I think this is a case of too little, too late. Nobody wants to pay for physical copies of songs anymore. It’s only a matter of time before the “big four” labels are going to have to go digital like everyone else.
