It’s a lot easier to wear shorts and tape an index card onto the inside of your thigh – I did that once. Another favorite is cutting an index card down to size of your calculator cover so you can slide the card between the calculator and the cover and peek at equations while you punch them into the calculator. Works especially well if you’re using a larger graphing calculator – a 3″ x 5″ fits almost perfectly behind a TI-83.
As a side note: I only did these things because I refused to memorize math equations. If I ever thought I might find myself in a foxhole with a knife or something and the only thing standing between me and oblivion was the quadratic equation, then I’d memorize the damned thing. But only then.
I wrote applications for my TI-82 to give me the answer to equations with known variables. Those were fun to write, so were the games we made and played in class.
