The Tragic Cost of Google Pac-Man

It turns out that Google’s brilliant homage to Pac-Man last Friday may have cost us more than $120,000,000. The Rescue Time Blog did the math. I seriously doubt that it’s entirely accurate but it’s still an interesting read.

I wonder how much having sex and sleeping cost us, too.

He’s made several baseless assumptions in his math:

    1) That the people using Google were, in fact, at work at the time.
    2) That those at work would have been working instead of wasting time in other ways.
    3) That the average Google user’s time (the world over, no less) is worth $25 an hour.
    4) That if there was a major loss of productivity, no steps would be taken to compensate.

A $120 million estimate is absolutely ridiculous if you use even a modicum of common sense.

TF, your points are amazing! Anyone with actual work to do likely never noticed the pac-man.
