Fable III Turns Episodic
Microsoft and Lionhead Studios plan to release Fable III in episodic format over Xbox Live once the game hits retail. In other words, you can buy the game as a whole up front for one lump sum or you can purchase it in “chapters” over XBL. They did this with Fable II and generated a lot of extra sales, so this move makes good business sense for them.
Torchlight II: MMO Format, Free to Play
Travis Baldree, president of Runic Games, told PC Gamer in an article appearing in the July edition that Torchlight II will not only be an MMO but will also be free to play. They plan to support the game through a simple “micro-transaction” system.
This is extremely cool news. I love to pick up a random round of Torchlight from time to time and I’d probably play a fair bit more if it were multiplayer.
Amazing Deals On Steam Today!
If you ask me, today has yielded the best deals so far during Steam’s “Perils of Summer” sale event.
- Torchlight is $5.00.
- Red Faction: Guerrilla is also $5.00.
- Mass Effect 2 is $23.99.
- FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage is $2.00.
- Left 4 Dead is $6.80.
If you only grab one game, make it Red Faction: Guerrilla. If you have more than a few bucks to spend, grab them all. These prices are obscene.
Programmable Origami
Researchers at The Harvard Microrobotics Lab have developed “programmable origami” using a sheet of composite material capable of folding along pre-determined points. They can force the material into various shapes using electric current-activated foil actuators.
This could have far-reaching potential if they choose to further develop the technology.
Wafflesicles
A French company called Triangular Concept is selling this amazing piece of machinery.
Breakfast has changed forever.
