The Concrete Espresso Machine

An engineering student named Shmuel Linski created this espresso machine out of solid concrete. I think it’s safe to assume that you won’t ever have to replace this thing.

StarCraft II: 1.8 Million Sales (Excluding Korea)

VGChartz is reporting that StarCraft II sold more than 1.8 million units in its first day at retail – and that’s excluding sales of the game in Korea, where it’s almost impossible to track numbers due to the way in which the game is sold. They estimate that 31% of sales occurred via Battle.net.

That makes SC2 one of the fastest selling PC games in history.

Mini Cupcake Factory

ThinkGeek is selling a Mini Cupcake Factory for $19.99.

It makes seven cupcakes in five minutes – all you need is regular old cake batter from the grocery store. You don’t even need paper cups because the cooking area is non-stick! Honestly, what more do you even need to know?

Guillermo del Toro: Video Game Developer?

MTV Multiplayer reports that film director Guillermo del Toro has big plans for video game development. In fact, he has plans for “multiple” games by way of a partnership with a “big company”. Here’s what he had to say:

“One of the things we’re announcing in the next few weeks is a big deal with a big company. We’re going to do games that are going to be technically and narratively very interesting,” he says.

“It’s not a development deal. We’re going to do it. We’re doing them. And we’re going to announce it soon enough.”

Considering that this is the guy who brought us Pan’s Labyrinth and the Hellboy movies, I’d say that this is pretty awesome. At the very least, you know the writing is going to be good.
