APB: The $100,000,000 Mistake

If this article on Broken Toys is to be believed, then developer RealTime Worlds went bankrupt for a very good reason: they supposedly spent more than $100,000,000 on the development of the catastrophic MMO flop APB.

It’s hard to believe, given the fact that APB plays like a budget title at best.

It took them far too long to develop a promising concept into a mediocre at best title and burn 100 mil on the team? Christ.

I think RealTime had to develop Crackdown 2, but I think there where some problems with the communications between Realtime and Microsoft or something..

Wilson confirmed that Realtime Worlds was not working on a sequel to the game, saying “Microsoft was a little late in stepping up to the plate to ask for Crackdown 2, and by then we had already started working on bigger, better things”.
