APB: The $100,000,000 Mistake

If this article on Broken Toys is to be believed, then developer RealTime Worlds went bankrupt for a very good reason: they supposedly spent more than $100,000,000 on the development of the catastrophic MMO flop APB.

It’s hard to believe, given the fact that APB plays like a budget title at best.

The Perfect Location

…or maybe the absolute worst? I guess it depends on how you look at things.

Macarena + Snuggie = Universe Asplode

I’m not sure what’s worse – the fact that they incorporated the Macarena into a Snuggie commercial or the fact they there are probably people out there somewhere in this messed up world who share the fetish that the guy at 0:26 appears to have.

A Very Considerate Gift

Our cats bring us spiders.

This makes me wonder what sort of message they’re trying to send.

Los Angeles Spends $578 Million on School for 4,200 Students

In what can only be described as the most flagrant waste of taxpayer dollars in history, the city of Los Angeles spent a mind boggling $578,000,000 on a public K-12 school designed to support around 4,200 students.

The Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools facility is built where the Ambassador Hotel once stood – the location where Kennedy was assassinated in 1968.

Yahoo! News has the full story.

Vanquish Demo Coming September 2nd

Vanquish, the new futuristic shooter from SEGA and Platinum Games, gets the demo treatment on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 on September 2nd. The demo features a prologue sequence that concludes with some sort of boss fight.

The full game, which director Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame) says is already finished and ready to play, releases on October 19.

Here’s the synopsis from the game’s official site, in case you haven’t been following this one:

Russia and the United States are vying for ownership of the world’s fast-depleting energy resources and the US has constructed a space station in order to harness energy from the sun. Russian forces capture this space station and divert its harvested solar energy into a blast wave that destroys San Francisco, aiming to force the US into a total and unconditional surrender. In response, the US tasks its armed forces with recapturing the space station before the Russians can annihilate their next target – New York.

I’m stoked about this one. I posted one of the trailers a while back. It looks like it’s going to push new boundaries, graphics-wise.
