Random Amazing Facts #0001

Random Amazing Facts is my way of sharing some of the random knowledge that I’ve managed to accumulate over the years.

I think this would be a perfect content submission opportunity, too.

Anyway, here are the first entries in the series. I’m planning to post three at a time.

  • When a baby giraffe is born, it falls as much as six feet to the ground.
  • The force of the Earth’s gravitational pull makes it impossible for any mountain to exceed a maximum height of 49,000 feet.
  • You can clean even the dirtiest of toilet bowls with a full can of Coca Cola.

Yeah… I’m going to have to see some references. Sorry.

  2. Mr. Pink says:

They’re these things called books. You wouldn’t understand. ;)

  3. Steve says:

The first two I’m willing to believe, but I’m very very very sceptical about the third. I highly doubt the bacteria-killing ability of coke, acidic or not. I too say that some sources on these might be worth it to save yourself our sceptical hassle ;) Even citing a book as a reference is fine too y’know? :P

  4. Steve says:

Err, and of course I meant skeptical.

And as a PS: Not everything you read in books (or anywhere for that matter) is true. As a well-versed internet traveller, you should know this very well ;)

  5. John says:

Yes, I was wondering where you got the mountain one as well. I’m getting various answers online.

I de-rust my old tools in a can of coke, I don’t see why it wouldn’t clean a toilet bowl.

I definitely like this feature! Keep it coming!

  7. Steve says:

Because clean and rusty are two entirely unrelated conditions. clean toilet bowls rely on no bacteria living there. Rust is just oxygenated metal.

I like it too, but I’d prefer some arguments to back up the claims ;)
