UK Segway Owner Dies in Tragic Accident

Jimi Heselden, the owner of the UK Segway company, rode one of the two wheeled scooters over a cliff and into the River Wharfe near his home in West Yorkshire yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Heselden was 62 years old.

Panasonic Building World’s Largest HDTV in North Carolina

Panasonic is breaking ground this month on construction of the world’s largest HDTV screen at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. It should be complete by April, 2011 and will measure 200 feet wide by 80 feet tall. It will weigh 165,000 pounds and the total LED count should number somewhere north of nine million.

Film Adaptation of The Hobbit in Jeopardy (Again)

IGN reports that arguments over a convoluted union issue may force the film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic The Hobbit to move from New Zealand, where the rest of the Lord of the Rings films were shot, to somewhere in east Europe.

First, they couldn’t find someone to direct the movie. Now, they can’t find a location where they can even produce the movie. This is turning into a nightmare.

Toronto Couple Arrested for Running Childcare Center and Whorehouse Out of the Same Apartment

The National Post reports that a couple in Toronto were arrested for operating both a childcare center and a whorehouse out of the same apartment. One of their workers was a sixteen year old girl. The pair face a total of eleven charges in what police are calling one of the most disturbing cases they’ve ever encountered.

Elmo Wins Fight in Music Shop

A man dressed as Elmo was the victim of an unprovoked attack at a Guitar Center in Winter Park, Florida. He was hired to wear the suit at a nearby shopping center called Winter Park Village and was taking his break at the music shop. The man who attacked him “felt threatened” by the Sesame Street star.

Fortunately, everyone’s favorite puppet knows how to handle himself. “Elmo got the best of the guy,” police Lt. Wayne Farrell said. “He broke two of his fingers. Elmo was unhurt.”
