Netflix Accounted for 95% of Peak Bandwidth in Canada During the “Watch Instantly” Launch

Netflix finally rolled out its streaming service in Canada a few weeks ago. Based on the rough numbers in this ZDNet article, I think it’s safe to say that the launch was a success.

It’s only a matter of time before Netflix execs realize that they can charge subscribers more for access to the “Watch Instantly” function. Of course, if they were to make everything in their library available, then they could charge several times what they’re charging now.

I have no doubt in my mind that people would pay.

Have to say that i don’t agree with you at all Mr. pink. for starters the main reason why Canada gets a “cheaper” subscription package then the states is because we also do not have the option to get DVDs and Blurays shipped to us while the states does. Netflix is now in fact toying with the idea of having a cheaper monthly subscription tier in the states for people who want to stream only. second this statistic was taken just after the launch in Canada and i i have to say that if anyone else was like me then they probably already canceled their subscription because the selection is appalling, it seemed like every movie or show i looked up was not available and what was available was already several years old. if they did increase the monthly subscription i think they would receive a rude awakening in the veil of mass subscription cancellations.

I don’t find everything I need with Netflix streaming, but I never have trouble finding something good to watch. It’s a good deal to me. I rarely get discs anymore.
