Digg Finally Collapses
If there was any question as to whether Digg would survive the botched V4 launch a few weeks back, we now have an answer. The company is firing 37% of its employees in a last ditch effort to stay alive. It’s not looking good, however, as the once mighty social content aggregator shrinks from 67 to 42 people.
CEO Matt Williams says that they’ll be “refocusing” the site and he intends to make an announcement regarding changes later today. Unfortunately, nothing he does at this point will make a difference. Digg is dead. Long live Reddit.
Bonus: A member of the Digg community caught the site spamming itself in a bid to get back on track with some of the larger news sites on the web by artificially inflating hits.

Top Gun II?
There’s no script for it, yet, and Tom Cruise hasn’t agreed to do the film but a Top Gun sequel is apparently in the works. Director Tony Scott confirmed that he’ll be directing it when (not if – when) it happens.

Blizzard to Release Four Official StarCraft II Mods
At Blizzcon 2010 this past weekend, Blizzard founder Mike Morhaime dropped lots of big news on StarCraft II fans. Sometime in the next few months, four official mods will be released for the game via Battle.net. They are as follows:
- Auir Chef – Cooking and killing on the battlefield.
- Left 2 Die – A Left 4 Dead style co-op survival game.
- StarJeweled – An SC2 themed Bejeweled game. (And why not?)
- Blizzard DotA – A space-themed take on the popular WarCraft III mod.
This sounds interesting, to say the least.
