Faster
It had been a few weeks since we last visited the local theater so we decided to see Faster last night. The trailer didn’t look half bad and I figured that it would either be another total bust from The Rock or he would finally give us the encore to The Rundown that fans have been patiently waiting for. (Really, The Rundown is an awesome movie.)
While it wasn’t the top shelf slapstick action flick that I was hoping for, it wasn’t bad, either. Tom Berenger had a short cameo and Billy Bob Thornton played an interesting role. I was a bit disappointed at the general lack of good fight scenes but they more than made up for that with big guns and kickass cars. I was honestly surprised at the level of gore. It was a bit of a departure for The Rock. He’s a ruthless son of a bitch in this one.
Still, I can’t say that I’d recommend seeing Faster in theaters. It’s worth grabbing once it’s out on Netflix, though.

LHC Detects Quark-Gluon Plasma
A team of researchers working at the site of the large Large Hadron Collider believe it may have detected quark-gluon plasma, the “hot soup” of tiny subatomic particles that the massive 27 mile long particle accelerator was designed – at least in part – to discover.
If this proves true, then we may soon know a lot more about the origins of our universe.

Black Eyed Peas to Play Super Bowl 2011 Halftime Show
In what will undoubtedly go down as one of the strangest decisions in NFL halftime show history, pop stars the Black Eyed Peas have been chosen as the performers for the 2011 Super Bowl halftime show.
Considering that the past few years have brought acts from musical legends such as Bruce Springsteen, The Who, and Tom Petty, it’s no surprise that people are a bit confused.
