In an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal earlier this week, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki made it absolutely clear that his government does not want the United States military to have a presence in Iraq after the end of 2011.
That shouldn’t be a problem considering that the U.S. government is supposedly planning a withdrawal right around then. Of course, whether that actually happens is anyone’s guess.

Can’t we just leave tomorrow? What’s actually stopping the US from just loading up all their ships and cargo planes and leaving right now. If they don’t want our help anymore (even though we should never have been there in the first place) we should just leave right now.
By August 2003 it was becoming clear that this abortion called the Iraq war was shaping up to be another Vietnam quagmire. Although the Bush regime insisted it was some sort of hunt for WMDs, it soon morphed into Saddam being in cahoots with Al-Qaida and eventually was just some sort of generic fight for freedom of some sort. Even after hanging Saddam high in the gallows, the bullshit continued to pile up and the media and the corporations with the blessings of congress (or the other way around) kept pumping billions of dollars into the abyss. Meanwhile, the economy and infrastructure in the good old US of A was being allowed to crumble while the crooks made off with our national treasure. Now we have shit. If Iraq wants us to leave maybe it’s because we ain’t got shit to give anymore: party over. But what the fuck right? Time to bomb bomb Iran. They’re supposed to have a fucking nuke now right? Let’s see – war in Iran by 2015 if not sooner. What – did you think the military industrial complex is just going to retool for the alternative energy market? Not on your life: not as long as there’s oil and coal to burn in our fucking monster trucks and inefficient power plants. Just saying. I wonder what sort patriotic drivel is going to fed to us about honorable victory or great accomplishments or some bullshit. These two wars have for all intents and purposes bankrupted our country.
