Asus Bringing Eee Pad, Eee Slate to CES 2011

CES 2011 is only eight days away and Asus is planning to make a big splash at the show with their new Eee Pad and Eee Slate devices. Engadget got their hands on a couple of close-up shots of the prototypes for each device. It’s unclear what will separate the two at this point – although it sounds like there are going to be some size differences.

According to a report on DigiTimes, both devices should ship by March for somewhere in the $499 to $599 range. Two 10″ models will be available initially and you’ll have a choice between Windows 7 and Android as far as the operating system goes.

A smaller 7.5″ version is also expected to launch in March. It will run on Android and may even function as a cell phone.

Is this going to be the first true iPad competitor? Maybe!

Iraq Wants the U.S. to Leave

In an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal earlier this week, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki made it absolutely clear that his government does not want the United States military to have a presence in Iraq after the end of 2011.

That shouldn’t be a problem considering that the U.S. government is supposedly planning a withdrawal right around then. Of course, whether that actually happens is anyone’s guess.

Playstation Phone: Spring, 2011?

According to a report published in the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, we could see a Playstation cell phone in spring, 2011. Sony refuses to comment on the speculation, of course. But considering that several prototype shots like the one below have leaked out in recent weeks, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that we’ll be seeing something relatively soon.
