Maggie Gallagher Speaks Out Against Anal Sex

The woman at right is Maggie Gallagher. She serves as the president of the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, a group that lobbies on marriage law issues.

You may know her as the woman who took tens of thousands of dollars from the Bush administration in return for her support of the ridiculous “healthy marriage” initiative.

This past week, however, she made herself Internet famous for another reason: Gallagher hates anal sex. With a passion. Here’s what she had to say on the subject.

Anal sex is painful, unsanitary, unsatisfying for women, and creates unique risks for serious physical diseases (if you doubt me, go read the Wikipedia entry on the subject) because the anus is not designed for sexual intercourse, increasing the risk of torn flesh and the intermingling of bodily fluids — blood, semen, fecal matter — that can spread an astonishing variety of diseases. The female partner is far more at risk than the man in these encounters. This should be a feminist issue.

Sounds to me like Mrs. Gallagher (if she’s even actually married, which has been disputed in the past) has had some bad run-ins with elephant peckers.

Killzone 3: Kaznan Jungle Multiplayer Gameplay

I was actually expecting a bit more from this one in the graphics department. This looks a lot like Killzone 2, if you ask me. It’s still going to be great, I’m sure.

The Raging Judge

The gigantic revolver pictured in the photo below is The Raging Judge. It looks like a toy but it’s actually a real firearm capable of shooting shotgun shells. Sadly, we won’t be seeing these in the United States. It was pulled from the Taurus USA booth at the SHOT gun show this past week after it was ruled to be a short barreled shotgun (SBS), not a revolver.

They’re apparently still working on a rifle version, however.

New PS3 Firmware Hacked In Under 24 Hours

A few days ago, Sony released new version 3.56 firmware for the PS3 to fix a few bugs in the operating system. It also just happened to break custom firmware. It took hackers less than 24 hours to bust the new release, however.

KaKaRoToKS, the same guy who released a custom firmware hack for 3.55, is once again the man responsible. He’s also known for breaking protection on the Nintendo Wii.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo Impressions

I sat down on the couch last night around 8:00, intent on trying out the Xbox 360 exclusive demo for Crysis 2. A good ten minutes later, I was finally connected to a game. I must have been dropped from at least a dozen games at one point or another during the matchmaking process.

Needless to say, I was already less than impressed by the time I was actually running around shooting at people.

Honestly, I don’t have much to say about Crysis 2. If you played and enjoyed the first game, you’re probably going to enjoy playing the sequel. Aside from a smoother graphics engine and a few gameplay tweaks, however, you aren’t in for any big surprises – or new material, for that matter. This has all been done before both by Crytek and other companies. There’s no denying that it’s gorgeous, though.

My only hope at this point is that the shift in environments from jungle to urban is enough to save single player from feeling like some sort of Warhead-esque expansion.

Scientists Identify Ancient “Body Clock”

Scientists at the Institute of Metabolic Science at the University of Cambridge have identified the mechanism in all living things that controls the “body clock”.

In other words, we now have a great deal of new insight into the circadian clock that helps keep us on a 24-hour cycle. The discovery also helps explain seasonal behavior in animals including hibernation and migration patterns.

You can read more about the study here. It’s fascinating.

Hubble Spots Galaxy 13,200,000,000 Light Years From Earth

According to a release from NASA earlier this week, the Hubble telescope has identified a galaxy approximately 13,200,000,000 light years from our planet. That makes it the most distant object ever seen in the universe from Earth by more than 150,000,000 years.

NASA scientists estimate that the relatively small cluster of blue stars existed roughly 480 million years after the Big Bang.

The Lincoln Lawyer

This actually looks like it’s going to be a decent movie.
