America Compared to the World

Charles M. Blow, an op-ed columnist for the New York Times, put together a sobering comparison between the United States and the rest of the world.

2 million in prison who are not counted as unemployed. Add to that those who are underemployed but not counted as employed and add those who gave up searching for jobs that are not there. That puts unemployment at 12% or more.

America bashers. If all these celebrities and politicians that rush to help other countries in need actually did something for our country, those numbers would change. This is another example of someone pointing out problems and not offering any sort of solution.

If we add who has the best chocolate then Switzerland by a mile.

Where is Mexico? Where is a single South American country, even Brazil?

Where is Cuba, North Korea (South Korea is presented as “Korea”), Vietnam, China (Hong Kong is not even a country!), or any single communist country?

Where is Russia and most of the former Soviet bloc countries?

Where is any Arab nation, including Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, or any middle eastern country – besides Israel, of course? Why is there no score for most beheadings of adulterers, blasphemers, and homosexuals?

Where is a single African country? Even the “oppressive” South Africa is notably absent.

I won’t even go into how these numbers are manipulated to ‘prove” a pre-conceived notion. All you need to do is ask a single question: which is the only country in the world where EVERYONE want live?
