320,000 Firecrackers

As a memorial to a family member, someone set up 320,000 firecrackers. The results are rather… loud. Check out the video below.

The Cost of the iPad

If you thought Apple was making a killing selling apps, you aren’t going to believe their profit margin on the iPad itself.

Mishkin – Good Day to Die

I’m not a big fan of death metal but this music video is one of the most bizarre and hilarious animations I’ve seen in a long time. It reminds me of Super Meat Boy.

You can see some of the animator’s other work at Grape Productions. He’s done a lot of cool work. (Warning: His site is an acid trip waiting to happen.)

WBC Trolling Anonymous?

According to a Network World report, the “open letter” from Anonymous declaring war on the Westboro Baptist Church a few days ago was a ruse. In fact, they’re saying the church itself was responsible for both the letter and the response. They’re apparently looking for someone to hit them with a DDoS attack so they can sue the IP holders.

Maybe someone should just hit them with a hail of gunfire, instead.

Texas to Allow Concealed Handguns On College Campuses?

A bizarre bill to allow students to carry concealed handguns on college campuses is moving swiftly through the Texas House of Representatives and it’s expected to pass by a rather wide margin. It even has the support of the Governor, Rick Perry, who carries a pistol when he’s out jogging. I think this bit from the article says it all:

Supporters of the legislation argue that gun violence on campuses, such as the mass shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Northern Illinois in 2008, show that the best defense against a gunman is students who can shoot back.

I guess that’s one way to address the problem…
