Gallon to Gallon

When you stop for a minute to think about things from this perspective, gas doesn’t seem like such an expensive resource.

perspectively, none of these things is necessary in order to function in society. that being said gasoline is not only a commodity but because of our lifestyles and lives gasoline is for the most part needed to function. My point being that tho we bitch about gas prices, we suck it up and buy it anyway. if bleach was $100 a bottle we would find another way. Ride your bike or shut the fuck up I suppose is where I am going with this. lol

The biggest problem we’re going to run into as a result of gas prices is the increase in food costs. It takes a lot of fuel to move the 18-wheelers, trains, and boats that keep us all fed.

What most people don’t realize is that most of our fertilizers are derived from oil, compounding the food issue.

Yet another reason why we need to turn all those corn and soy fields into natural pastures where we raise pastured beef, pork, bison, fowl, etc.

Glad to see this in a nice, easy to read chart. I’ve long complained over the outrageous prices of other liquid products that are incredibly easy to obtain while crude oil, a limited resource, is cheaper per gallon than even milk, something that is at a near-infinite supply.

  3. This chart may be correct about prices of items per gallon. But I have two problems with these comparisons.

    A. Most of these items aren’t sold by the gallon.

    2. I have never walked into a store and thought to myself, “I better buy a gallon of shampoo and a gallon of honey while I’m here.” Because no one buys that much of those items.

Comparatively these items may cost more, but no one is buying them at that quantity so it’s kind of irrelevant.

They forgot a big one… printer ink costs $8000 to $20000 a gallon (depending on the manufacturer. HP is one of the worst…)

Where the hell did they get the price of milk? Northeastern NY we pay about $3/gal.

What I always find funny is that the water you get out of your tap is just a few $0.01 whereas bottled water is 100 or 1,000 times more… plus then you’ve got that stupid petro-plastic bottle waste.
