505 Games Teams With Rebellion For Sniper Elite V2

Remember Sniper Elite, the ambitious World War II shooter that Rebellion released back in 2005? Well, they’re working on a sequel – with help from the team at 505 Games, makers of Supremacy MMA. It’s due out for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012.

Here’s what Ian Howe, Managing Director of 505 Games, had to say about the project:

“We guarantee that the sequel will be the most authentic WW2 sniping experience ever – not just in terms of weapon ballistics, but also in delivering the heart-pulsing tension of those do or die moments where one shot really does matter.”

I always thought the original Sniper Elite was a good game that simply lacked polish. This is definitely going to be a game to keep an eye out for.

I have always been a fan of shooters that let you choose your style of play like Hitman and Deus Ex or to a lesser extent Sniper Elite . I was a little disappointed when I played through the original in 1 long sitting. I felt like there was maybe room for more choices in stealth or weaponry.

I really liked the camera angle changing for a head shot to follow the bullet right up to the impact with the enemy; that was a really cool feature. I would love to see more options to run through with a machine gun when it calls for it with maybe a reward system or some other incentive to snipe and use stealth. I can’t wait.

Seeing it is Rebellion, I think I’ll pass. Sniper Elite was a pretty decent game, but after that, all Rebellion has put out looked alright but played like hell.

And thanks for raping AvP ’10.
