Sony Admits PSN Hackers Stole Personal Information

Sony concluded their “thorough investigation” into last week’s hacking of the PlayStation Network today and the results aren’t good. They’ve concluded that the individual or group responsible did in fact steal personal information belonging to PS3 owners who have PSN accounts. They don’t believe that credit card numbers were part of the leak, however.

On top of that wonderful news, Sony also says that PSN remains down. The earliest we can expect to see it come back online is next week.

This is too bad that some people can ruin it for so many others. I’m all for standing up for what you believe in, but this really gives politicians more fuel for controlling the internet. Conspiracy theory? Government entities are behind this to sway public opinion towards making a more “secure” internet in the states.
