Minecraft Beta 1.6 Released
The latest Minecraft patch – beta 1.6 – went live today. It adds a mini-map to the game and fixes dozens of bugs. Unfortunately, it also created a bunch of new ones. Notch and the rest of the Mojang team are already working on 1.6.1.
The Wooden Tie
There are novelty ties and then there are awesome novelty ties. The Wooden Tie from Wood Thumb is the latter. It’s made of reclaimed wood and elastic. $35. Must buy.

Chinese Prisons Forcing Inmates to Farm MMO Gold?
According to a report by The Guardian, prisons in China have been forcing inmates to farm gold in popular massively multiplayer games such as World of WarCraft. Some even claim to have been beaten for not meeting insane quotas.
Prison authorities have of course denied the claims but given that the gold farming industry is an $80 billion business that has been tied to slave labor in the past, it’s not hard to believe.

SWAT Arrests Girl For Bow and Arrow Assault
A SWAT team in Mason County, Washington arrested a 15 year old girl after she shot her father in the chest with a bow and arrow because he took her cell phone away.
The man, who suffered a critical injury to his torso, was airlifted from his home in the town of Tahuya to a hospital in Seattle. He is expected to survive. His daughter has been committed to a psychiatric facility for observation. She is expected to face charges, of course.
