SOE and LucasArts to Shut Down Star Wars Galaxies

After more than eight years of extreme ups and downs, Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts announced today that the master servers for Star Wars Galaxies will go down for good later this year. December 15th, to be exact.

Good riddance. Bring on The Old Republic, already!

Magicka – PvP Trailer

Magicka received its long awaited PvP patch this week and with it comes one of the best launch trailers I’ve ever seen for a video game. Of course, I might be a bit biased.

Lightning Eclipse

Photographer Chris Kotsiopoulos captured this shot of the total lunar eclipse back on June 15th from the Greek island of Ikaria at Pezi using a 30 second exposure, calling it Lightning Eclipse from the Planet of the Goats.

Lulz Security Hacked By TeaMp0isoN

In one of the strangest twists to the Lulz Security saga so far, an apparent rival known as TeaMp0isoN hacked and defaced the group’s official website. As you can see from the screen capture below, they weren’t exactly subtle in sharing their feelings.

Verizon Eliminating Unlimited Data Plans

Verizon is eliminating unlimited data plans for all new smart phone customers as of July 7th according to a series of leaked documents acquired by Android Central. If you’re an existing customer, you can breath a sigh of relief. If you aren’t an existing customer that’s been considering making the switch from another carrier, you’d better do it now.

Mystery Buyer to Acquire PopCap Games For $1 Billion?

There’s a rumor floating around that a so-called “mystery buyer” is planning to purchase PopCap Games, makers of Bejeweled, Peggle, and Plants vs. Zombies among other games, for somewhere in the range of $1 billion. There aren’t a lot of companies out there who have that kind of cash on hand, so the list of possibilities is pretty short.

Could it be EA? Maybe Google? Possibly even Facebook? Only time will tell.
