Blizzard Delays Diablo III to “Early 2012″

Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime just announced in a blog post on the Diablo III website that the game has been delayed to “early 2012″ – confirming that the company did otherwise intend to release it this year.

The upside to this is that Blizzard is also planning to extend the beta and add more testers.

I thought I had heard from some reputable blizzard article that the game was “absolutely” coming in 2011.
    I frown.

Though, to be honest, even with the quoted absolutes, I expected a delay. Who doesn’t these days?

wouldn’t we all rather it works and it gets properly finished than get it today?

I wish they would just get in the habit of intentionally lying to us, and adding 8 months to their guess at when anything from blizzard would be released. “Diablo 3 won’t be available until third quarter 2012.” Then, if they actually finish early, “Hey guys, guess what? It’s actually ready now, early 2012.”

I suppose this way adds a little more anticipation, and possibly boosts sales.

I could already hear the bitching on the forums now “The talent tree is broken, way to rush your release without play testing you bastards.”
