Lionsgate announced yesterday that it has acquired the film rights to zombie shooter Dead Island and will begin developing it as a feature film. There’s no word yet on a plot – because the project doesn’t even have writers at this point – but Sean Daniel (of The Mummy fame) has signed on as the producer. Expect to see it in theaters sometime in 2014.

the ending was pretty disappointing
they should change it
unless they want to end it in a cliffhanger for a sequel
now if only they would put out a patch for the game, havnt heard jack shit in nearly 3 weeks.
So they are making a film based on a game that is based on old zombie films. So basically they are making “…of the living dead” films without having to pay for the licence to them.
How long before George A. Romero or the copyright holders of his films sues?
Come to think of it, isn’t Night of the Living Dead now in the public domain now anyway? Liongate didn’t need to acquire any licence in the first place since Dead Island must be public domain as well.
Both of you… “License”
Licence, actually. Except in America.
Will the film be as buggy as the game?
hope they release the final version of the film in theaters and not a developer version lol. joking aside, i hope they beak the bad game to movie habit and release something worth watching.
