Mr. Maroon and I sat down and played our way through the first two acts of Gears of War 3 last night. The words, “Holy shit,” must have come out of my mouth at least twenty times during that two or three hours in front of the TV.

This game is an absolute masterpiece. Epic Games got it right this time, plain and simple. The interface, the controls, the graphics, and the sound are shining examples of what a console shooter should be. Every minor annoyance, glitch, and poor design decision present in previous entries in the franchise has been eliminated. I honestly hope Epic goes back and re-makes the first two games using this engine.

And we haven’t even tried the multiplayer, yet. Christ. Why are you even still reading? Go get a copy of the game. It’s worth every red cent of the $59.99 asking price.
