The Lion King Rises
This is goddamn amazing. Best parody trailer of the year by far.
WTC: 2012 and Beyond
It’s hard to believe that we’re already saying goodbye to 2011. But here we are, preparing to ring in the new year and hoping that it won’t be our last.
2011 was a huge year for What The Christ? Our viewership has been through the roof, the VIP area nearly tripled in size, and we’ve been having more fun with the site than ever.
And from where we stand, 2012 promises to be bigger and better. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the things we’re rolling out just in the next few months:
- An official YouTube channel featuring an original web series and partner content.
- An official What The Christ? brand and line of products. (Shirts, mugs, etc.)
- Two completely new websites hosted and sponsored by the WTC network.
- Several new widgets and functions designed to make the site easier to navigate.
We owe a big thanks to everyone who signed up for a VIP account this year. You make all of this possible. Expect to see more details over the coming weeks.
Ford Bronco + Nitrous = 10 Second Car
This is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen on a race track.
UFC Icon Brock Lesnar Retires
Following his big fight last night with Alistair Overeem at UFC 141, former WWE personality turned mixed martial arts goliath Brock Lesnar announced (warning: spoiler) that he’s done.
When asked for comment, UFC founder and president Dana White said that the move isn’t a surprise to him but that he was unaware of Lesnar’s intent to leave the ring for good.
Chevy Sonic: Claw Game Promotion
To pump up the release of the Sonic sedan, Chevrolet put together an awesome promotion in which people got to play a giant claw game projected on the side of the famous Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The grand prize was a 2012 Sonic.
Unfortunately, this happened right before GM was forced to issue a recall on 4,296 of the cars due to a small problem with brake pads being completely missing.
Gaming Titans Withdraw SOPA Support
Three of the biggest brands in the gaming industry have officially withdrawn their support for Lamar Smith’s extremely controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill.
Nintendo, Electronic Arts, and Sony Electronics are no longer listed as supporters of the bill as of this morning. Weeks of intense pressure from gamers, threats of retaliation from the Anonymous hacktivist collective, and the mass exodus from GoDaddy in response to their initial support have obviously made it clear to corporations that SOPA will not be tolerated.
Microsoft also dropped their support this week – and there are rumors floating that Google and Facebook have both held internal discussions about the “nuclear option” of completely shutting down operations if the bill passes in its current form.
In other words: goodbye, SOPA.
