Sony announced this morning that Kazuo Hirai, currently the Executive Deputy President of the company, will assume the role of CEO on April 1, 2012.

Current CEO and President Sir Howard Stringer is set to drop to a new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors in June. Interestingly enough, the move came at Stringer’s request.
