It would appear as though Microsoft has finally accepted the fact that people don’t want (and in many cases simply won’t) spend hundreds of dollars on an operating system.

They’ve decided to address the problem by making Windows 8 Professional available as a quick and easy upgrade for existing XP, Vista, and 7 users for a mere $39.99.

This is probably the smartest thing they’ve done since Bill Gates took the company public.
