Android Console Kickstarter Raises $2.6 Million In 24 Hours

Gadget designer Yves Behar thought that it might be cool to build an open-source Android based video game console. And it appears that a lot of people feel the same way; Behar’s Kickstarter project for the Ouya received $2.6 million in funding in its first 24 hours.

The Ouya will feature a quad-core Tegra 3 and 8GB of storage running Android 4.0 and it will sell for $99. It’s designed to be totally open, so hardware and software documentation will be available to everyone and the system will feature everything from USB to Bluetooth.

Contributions to the project are up to $3,359,594 as of this posting. This is big.
