A gunman dressed in full tactical gear opened fire on Batman fans at the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado this morning, killing 12 and wounding 59.

James Holmes, 24, was apprehended by police without incident in the Century 16 parking lot minutes after the attack. He was carrying an AR-15, a shotgun, and two handguns.

Authorities are saying that Holmes also booby-trapped his apartment with incendiary devices and chemical weapons. It will take several days to safely clear the residence.
