EA announced today that they’ve filed a lawsuit against mobile gaming giant Zynga on behalf of Maxis for copyright infringement. EA claims that Zynga’s new game The Ville copies core gameplay elements from the Maxis title The Sims Social. (I use “gameplay” loosely.)

Considering Zynga’s current financial woes, this could prove disastrous for the company.
