IRS Awards Whistleblower $104 Million

Lawyers for ex-banker turned whistleblower Bradley Berkenfeld revealed this morning that the Internal Revenue Service has awarded him $104 million because he cooperated with an investigation into tax evasion at Swiss bank UBS AG. Berkenfeld himself served two and a half years in prison for a fraud conspiracy conviction related to the case he helped with.

That’s the largest sum of money the IRS has ever awarded to anyone for anything.
