Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera has acquired the Current TV network and brand from former U.S. Vice President and one-time candidate for U.S. President Al Gore. The acquisition will give Al Jazeera access to millions of American viewers, a goal they’ve had for years.

Al Jazeera says it plans to shut down and convert Current TV into a U.S. branch. No word on how much money Gore got out of the deal just yet but I’m guessing it’s a bundle.
