A meteorite exploded in the sky over the Chelyabinsk region of Russia yesterday, injuring 950 and causing mass panic. Most injuries were a result of broken glass and flying debris.
The explosion occurred high inside Earth’s atmosphere but the force was enough to damage buildings and cars in six cities. Russian scientists think the meteorite weighed about 10 tons. It entered the Earth’s atmosphere traveling at a speed of at least 33,000 mph.
