Apple Working With Valve On Kinect-Like Console?
Rumors are circulating that the meeting between Gabe Newell and Tim Cook last week was to discuss plans for a Kinect-style Apple gaming system either built by or heavily supported by Valve. There’s also speculation that the subject of an acquisition may have come up.
My head will completely ‘asplode if one or both of these possibilities turns out to be true.
The Heads of Apple and Valve Met Last Week
Apple CEO Tim Cook took a trip to Bellevue, Washington last week to meet with Valve CEO Gabe Newell at Valve HQ. The reason for the meeting is a mystery – but it’s clear that Valve is doing everything it can pushing the Steam platform to Mac gamers.
Could Valve be looking into iOS development beyond the Steam app that they released? Is a partnership of some kind in the works? Does this all have something to do with the awesome rumors about Valve playing with hardware? Only time will tell.

Facebook Acquires Instagram
Hot on the heels of their Android release last week, the Instagram team just announced that they’ve been acquired by Facebook for approximately $1 billion in cash and stock.
That ain’t too shabby at all considering that Instagram is just a tiny camera app. Then again, it has an absolutely massive social network behind it. If you can’t beat ‘em, buy ‘em!

Nintendo Wii U Coming November 18th
Wii U Daily got their hands on an internal email from a popular game shop in Tokyo. It states that the release date for the Nintendo Wii U will be November 18th.
That would make sense considering that the original Wii console was released on November 19th, 2006. Nintendo hasn’t (and probably won’t) comment on the story, however.
New Xbox Coming Christmas 2013, Sony to Release PS4 First
VG247 is reporting that Microsoft is finally sharing details about the new Xbox with at least a few of its publishing partners and that we can expect the system to hit stores in time for the holidays next year. They also claim the new system requires an always-on Internet connection to combat piracy and that it has two GPUs and a four or six core CPU.
Sadly, there still seems to be confusion as to whether the system will support used games. In any case, we shouldn’t expect a public announcement about the console until next year.
In related news, VG247 has also learned that Sony is well aware of Microsoft’s plans at this point and intends to beat them to market with the PS4. In fact, Sony is rumored to be planning reveal events for developers in May and June of this year. Still no word on a public reveal.
