Sony Closing SOCOM Creator Zipper Interactive

Sony refuses to comment at this point but several sources have confirmed that the company is firing everyone at Zipper Interactive. Zipper is the team behind both SOCOM and MAG. It’s unclear whether the studio had anything in the works leading up to Sony’s decision but it’s a death sentence for one of the company’s longest-running franchises, regardless.

Ubisoft Giving Away Tattoos, Mohawks to Promote Far Cry 3

To promote Far Cry 3, the marketing team at Ubisoft has arranged for a tattoo artist to set up shop during the PAX East convention in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, April 6th.

Suze, an artist from The Hourglass Tattoo Parlor, will tattoo anyone over the age of 18 for free as long as the design is based on the tribal tattoos found on Far Cry 3′s Vaas.

Ubisoft will also have a barber on hand to provide free mohawk haircuts.

8-Bit Pale Ale

The Tallgrass Brewing Co. of Manhattan, Kansas stands to make a small fortune on their latest canned concoction: 8-Bit Pale Ale.

I don’t even care if it’s good beer. I want a case for the can design alone.

Zynga Insiders Plan to Unload $687 Million In Stock

Days after announcing a ridiculously overpriced acquisition of rival OMGPOP, a group of top executives at mobile gaming giant Zynga – including founder Mark Pincus – announced plans to dump an incredible $687 million worth of their own stock in the company.

That’s about 43,000,000 shares at current prices. Pincus stands to pull down more than $200 million (before taxes) while still retaining 35% of the voting power.

Not that this is a surprising move in the slightest, of course. The Draw Something takedown of FarmVille must have really spooked these guys. I’d be dumping my stock, too.

Bethesda to Cancel Prey 2 Next Week?

According to a report from a Dutch gaming blog, Bethesda will announce the cancellation of Prey 2 next week. The game was in development at Human Head Studios, led by the same team responsible for the original “Indians versus aliens” shooter back in 2006.

I’m going to be sad if this turns out to be true. I thought Prey was pretty cool and I was looking forward to seeing where they were going to take things with the sequel.

LittleBigPlanet Karting

This is a blatant rip of the Mario Kart franchise – but it looks awesome, so I approve.
