World of PaperCraft
I think it’s a well known fact that World of WarCraft fans are some of the most hardcore gamers in the world. That said, it should come as no surprise that Blizzard’s fans take their fascination with the world’s most popular PC game to extraordinary levels. A prime example is the insane collection of WarCraft themed papercraft pictured in this Pixzii gallery.
I think the one that really made me go, “Wow!” (no pun intended) was the dragon shown to the right. The level of detail in this kind of work is truly something to behold.
Retro Gamer Drive
This is amazing. This guy turned an NES controller into a flash drive using an Arduino. He built in a security feature stopping it from recognizing on your PC until you punch in the Konami Code.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Carmelo Anthony Posterizes Paul Millsap In Nuggets’ Season Opener
Being a huge North Carolina Tar Heel fan, I made a point to catch some of the Denver Nuggets 2009-2010 season opener against the Utah Jazz so that I could see Ty Lawson in his NBA debut. Not only did Lawson tally 17 points and dish out 6 assists in only 26 minutes but late in the 4th quarter, Carmelo Anthony made it a point to say, “I’m back!” (Literally, read his lips.)
I’m guessing Paul Millsap wishes he’d stayed back in Utah.
DJ Hero: Mr. Pink’s Review
I snagged a copy of DJ Hero from Target today for $120. We fired up the 360 as soon as we got home and proceeded to rip through the next two hours, working through the tutorial and the first five or six sets plus a few individual tracks.
Overall, I’m damn impressed. The turntable controller is well constructed, the game mechanics are solid, the music itself is fantastic (even the rap mash-ups are catchy) and the overall experience is right up there with Guitar Hero. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they managed to emulate the basic feel of real mixing while keeping the game somewhat pedestrian. There’s a definite challenge to be had at the higher difficulty settings, however. I struggled with medium at first but I feel like I’m getting it under control.
My only real problems with the game at this point are the fact that my right arm hurts like hell from all of the furious scratch movements and Grandmaster Flash is the most annoying son of a bitch in the world. Listening to his screechy voice during the tutorial was torture. I wanted to mute the volume at times.
On the whole, I’d say that this one is definitely worth the money. With all of the DLC that’s sure to come out for this over the next year or two, I’m sure that this game is going to develop a big following.
Modern Warfare 2: 3rd Person Mode
According to this Kotaku article, there will be a brand new Gears of War style third person multiplayer view mode incorporated into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We’re only a couple of weeks out from the release of the game and yet Infinity Ward is still dropping interesting new tidbits about the game. This has to be the biggest build-up to a release since World of WarCraft.
Super Mario World Proposal
Watch the whole thing. This guy is a genius.
