Mark Hamill Retires From Voicing The Joker
Mark Hamill, best known for playing the role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies, confirmed via Twitter that he’s done voicing The Joker. The critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham City was sadly his final project. He will be sorely missed.
Sony Pictures Closing Deal On Assassin’s Creed Film
Variety is reporting that Sony Pictures is on the verge of closing a deal with Ubisoft that would bring Assassin’s Creed to the big screen.
This would be the first major move for Ubisoft Motion Pictures, a division established by the company earlier this year exclusively to handle the translation of their games’ characters and stories to feature films. In other words, this won’t be an Uwe Boll quality film.
Hasbro Pushing For Transformers IV
Because the last movie wasn’t terrible enough, toy giant Hasbro is pushing Paramount, Michael Bay, and Steven Spielberg to do yet another Transformers movie.
Why? So they can sell more t-shirts, toys, and video games, that’s why.
iPhone 4S vs. Canon 5D MKII
One of the enhancements that Apple made with the iPhone 4S is the addition of the ability to record video in 1080p. What might surprise you, however, is that the quality of the recordings is on par with a $3,000 Canon DSLR.
iTunes Movie Trailers App
One of the apps quietly released alongside iOS5 this past week was iTunes Movie Trailers. I just gave it a go and it’s honestly one of the coolest apps I’ve ever used.
But it isn’t just the fact that it gives you access to the giant library of trailers on Apple’s servers that makes this such a kick-ass app. No, it actually enables you to buy tickets, find nearby theaters, and even chart film releases on a calendar.
As far as I know, there are no other apps across any mobile platform that can do all of that a.) for free or b.) as cleanly as this one. It’s a must for anyone who owns an iOS device.
Die Hard 5: A Good Day to Die Hard
Because Die Hard 4 apparently wasn’t bad enough, Bruce Willis is working on a fifth entry in the dying franchise. What’s worse is the name: A Good Day to Die Hard.
Slash Film has literally all of the details on the project, which starts shooting in January.
Hulu No Longer For Sale
In a move that really isn’t too surprising, Hulu’s equity partners have decided to terminate the sale of the popular streaming video service. They released a statement this morning.
Major players like Yahoo, Microsoft, and Google had all expressed their interest in making the acquisition but after the recent Netflix debacle, it’s clear that there’s some real benefit to remaining an independent and ultimately more limber competitor.
American Reunion – Red Band Teaser
Oh, good lord. The sock on the kid’s head was a bit much.
Coriolanus
This one looks… interesting. It’s an updated take on Shakespeare’s play about a Roman General who allies with his sworn enemy to take revenge on the city after he is banished.
