“Big Three” CEOs Arrive on Private Jets, Ask for Bailout Money to Save Auto Industry
According to this ABC News report, the “big three” CEOs from the American auto industry showed up to their meeting with the government yesterday on – you guessed it – private jets. I wish I could say that this surprises me but it’s honestly par for the course. I feel bad for all of the people who are going to lose their jobs when these assholes drive their companies into the dirt.
Where’s Dick Cheney?
Aside from a brief mention of the Vice President in the news today, there hasn’t been a lot said by the media about Dick Cheney in recent months. Why do you suppose that is? Is the Bush administration hoping that people are just going to forget? I really hope that’s not the case.
Cheney should be thrown in jail, charged with every war crime he’s committed, and sentenced to the harshest punishments allowable under the law
Georgia Congressmen: Beware! Obama is evil!
A Republican representative from Georgia, Paul Broun, spewed some serious shit about Obama yesterday according to this Associated Press article.
(Please note the hilarious irony in that he is both a Republican – you know, the ones who lost the election – and a citizen of Georgia, which is amongst the most racist states in the country.)
In a nutshell, he claims that Obama is going to create a national citizen police force, take away our right to bear arms, and then he even goes so far as to compare Obama’s win in the presidential race to Hitler’s win in Germany prior to World War II. The irony! Even ignoring the fact that this guy is a Republican (and therefore automatically an idiot), this kind of shit just blows my mind.
I could write a huge post about how stupid this asshat is but I’m just going to leave it at this: capitalism fucked this country over in a big way. The “old ways” have come to an end with this most recent election and it’s time for people to either get over it or move to Canada. We were clearly heading down the wrong path. Our economy is in shambles, our military is struggling at best, our healthcare and public education systems are some of the worst in the civilized world, and the list just keeps going.
I almost wish that things like this didn’t make it into the news. It scares me knowing that lunatics like this guy are actually part of our government.
Oh, and as a sidenote, Barack Obama won 69% of the electoral vote in this election. He also won the popular vote by a decisive 7% vote, a total gap of 8,256,013 votes. The people spoke loud and clear.
Putin’s Return to the Kremlin?
According to this article on the New York Post, Vladimir Putin could make a return to the Kremlin. Russian lawmakers intend to amend the constitution by the end of 2008, paving the way for Putin to return to power early in 2009. This would, of course, require that Dmitry Medvedev resign as president. This wouldn’t be a surprising move, however, considering that he’s a Putin protege.
My opinion? Scary shit.
Patriotism
I saw this photo over on Flickr. It was posted by a user by the name of 8 1 7. It was originally reported that this policeman is saluting Obama. Judging from the people in the background who are holding their hands over their hearts, however, I would say that this was probably taken during the national anthem. Regardless, it’s a very powerful photo.

ABC News Skewers Palin
ABC News absolutely skewered Sarah Palin in an article posted to their site this morning. It outlines all kinds of shenanigans, including lots of previously unknown bits of information straight from the mouths of those who worked on the McCain campaign. One of the most interesting points of the piece, in my opinion, was that Palin actually wanted to give her own concession speech. Seriously? What was she even thinking?
Potsmokers at Obama Celebration?
I have no idea whether this is true or not. Either way, it’s hilarious.
