February VIP Giveaway – Walther Nighthawk Pellet Gun

This month’s VIP giveaway prize is a Walther Nighthawk pellet pistol. This semi-automatic CO2 powered gun is decked out with a deluxe red-dot scope, a side-mounted flashlight and a removable compensator. It fires at 360 FPS.

Catching Up

Our 4G connection appears to be holding steady. We’re in the process of catching up on both the public facing site and in the VIP area. We’ve already pushed several pages of content to both sites – and there’s more to come on both ends of things.

Network Service Interruption

Due to a ridiculous winter storm for which the Pacific Northwest was wholly unprepared, we’ve been without power – and therefore high speed Internet access – for the past two days. We should be back up and running soon according to our providers.

VIP Members – Obviously, we have a lot of catching up to do once we’re back online. Rest assured that when we come back, we’re coming back with a big update.

UPDATE 01/22 – We have power but no Internet just yet. We’re in the process of acquiring a 4G modem that should allow us to resume regular updates to the site.

UPDATE 01/23 – We still don’t have our regular connection back but we’re on 4G! Expect a landslide of updates over the course of the day today.

Mr. Black is back (once again) with a new batch of okAsshole updates. It’s been more than three months since he last trolled okCupid – largely because he managed to get an entire block of IP addresses banned from the site for abuse (including our server’s proxy).

January VIP Giveaway – Diablo III

This month’s prize is a pre-order for one copy of Diablo III for the winner and a second copy for the fellow VIP of their choosing.

We are of course assuming that Diablo III is on schedule for a February release.

WTC: 2012 and Beyond

It’s hard to believe that we’re already saying goodbye to 2011. But here we are, preparing to ring in the new year and hoping that it won’t be our last.

2011 was a huge year for What The Christ? Our viewership has been through the roof, the VIP area nearly tripled in size, and we’ve been having more fun with the site than ever.

And from where we stand, 2012 promises to be bigger and better. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the things we’re rolling out just in the next few months:

  • An official YouTube channel featuring an original web series and partner content.
  • An official What The Christ? brand and line of products. (Shirts, mugs, etc.)
  • Two completely new websites hosted and sponsored by the WTC network.
  • Several new widgets and functions designed to make the site easier to navigate.

We owe a big thanks to everyone who signed up for a VIP account this year. You make all of this possible. Expect to see more details over the coming weeks.

The WTC 12 Days of Christmas (12 of 12)

For the grand finale of the WTC 12 Days of Christmas, we selected a random VIP member earlier tonight and they won… the second 2011 Holiday Extravaganza Prize Pack.

That’s right. We gave away a second prize pack that’s identical to the first. In other words, the final gift wasn’t worth $250 like we’ve been saying. It was actually worth $2,500. Terribly sorry about that missing zero. We can assure you that it won’t happen again.

How were we financially able to do this, you ask? Simple. We managed to sell more new VIP accounts in the past six weeks than we’ve sold in the past six months. Literally hundreds.

The only question now is whether we’re going to be able to top ourselves next year.

The 2011 WTC Video Game Awards Results

The results of the first annual WTC Video Game Awards are in! We received just north of 1,500 responses. Not bad at all! Here are the winners for each of the ten categories.

  • Game of the Year: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (53%)
  • Best Multiplayer Game: Battlefield 3 (37.1%)
  • RPG of the Year: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (79.2%)
  • First Person Shooter of the Year: Battlefield 3 (52.1%)
  • Best Indie Game: Minecraft (80%)
  • Best Xbox 360 Game: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (29.3%)
  • Best PS3 Game: Portal 2 (40.4%)
  • Best Driving Game: Forza Motorsport 4 (41.9%)
  • Best Story: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (30.9%)
  • Best iOS Game: Dead Space (38.3%)

As you can see, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took home the gold in four categories.

Also – as promised – we’ve contacted ten randomly selected VIP members and given them their choice of a brand new copy of any one of the winning games.
