Blender

If you’ve ever wanted to dabble in the area of 3D graphic design, then you need to check out what Blender has to offer. I’ve been watching it develop for a few years, now, and it’s been a really impressive thing to see, considering some of the obstacles that the developers have faced. It’s totally open source and licensed under the GNU, so it’s free to use and even profit from.

You can read all about what the Blender suite can do and download it at the official website and you can learn more about the history behind it here.

Samorost

I don’t know how best to describe the Samorost games. They’re sort of like interactive graphic adventures. If you like games with a storyline, then you’re definitely going to be interested in these. The art is great, too, especially in the second installment. (It looks much newer.)

There are currently two episodes.

The first one is here and the second one is here.

Blambot Comic Fonts

I was looking for a couple of comic book style fonts for a project that I’m working on when I ran across this collection from Blambot. I’ve never seen their site before but the font selection is massive! If you’re looking for anything of the sort, then this is the place to go.

Sam Rockwell Is a Badass Actor

I just finished watching Choke, the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s insane book about a sex addict who works in a colonial theme park, fucks as many women as he can, and at night pretends to choke on food in fancy restaurants so rich people will “save” him, feel sorry for him and end up paying his mother’s medical bills.

Yeah. Needless to say, Sam Rockwell is one hell of an actor. He’s played some really great roles in the past but this one blows everything else he’s done completely out of the water. Director Clarg Gregg did a fantastic job of adapting the book.

The best part of the movie is, “Hey! Poodle.” Trust me. Watch it and you’ll understand.

Twins Born Across Two Years

A mother in Rochester, Michigan gave birth to twins on New Years Eve and New Years Day, meaning that her sons have birthdays in December of 2008 and January of 2009. They were born 26 minutes apart, shortly before and shortly after midnight. That’s a hell of a way to ring in the new year.

You can read more about it in the Chicago Tribune article here.

I wonder if this is the first time that this has happened?

Kurak

Kurak is yet another badass website and graphic design portfolio. This one is unique in that it’s apparently a one-man show. The “about” page lists Jakub Slaby of Poland as the only employee. The site design itself is extremely cool – great use of color and style.

You can check it out here.
