EA Drops Support For Nintendo Wii U
EA has confirmed that it’s dropping support for the ailing Wii U. The publisher has confirmed that it doesn’t have any new games in development for Nintendo’s newest console.
This is very bad news for Nintendo. Even with a strong internal lineup, they’re going to have a really hard time surviving without the generally strong sales numbers EA generates.
EA Eliminating “Online Pass” System
In one of the most surprising moves they’ve made so far this century, EA just announced that they’re doing away with the Online Pass system – because gamers don’t like it.
EA is actually listening to its customers for once. I’m at a total loss for words.
EA Developing “Frostbite Go” For Mobile Platforms
EA is developing a version of its Frostbite engine for mobile devices.
It’s unclear at this point how it will compare to the Unreal and Unity engines but given what they’re doing with Frostbite 2.0 it’s a safe bet that Frostbite Go will hold its own.
The Sims 4 Announced
EA and Maxis just announced that The Sims 4 is happening. No details are available, yet.
Disney Gives EA Exclusive Rights to Star Wars Franchise
Just over a month ago Disney dropped the hammer on LucasArts.
Today, the company gave exclusive rights to the Star Wars video game empire to EA in what will go down as either the best or worst thing that’s ever happened to Star Wars games.
I’m personally hoping for a mash-up of Battlefield and Star Wars ala Battlefront.
WTC Reviews: Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel
The Good: This is by far the best entry in the Army of TWO series to date. It’s gory fun from start to finish.
The Bad: The campaign is short. EA plans to DLC the hell out of this game. It’s blatantly obvious.
The Final Word: If you want a solid co-op shooter, the Army of TWO franchise is a no-brainer. Sure, it has its faults and bugs. But on the whole it’s great fun. And the Frostbite 2.0 engine in The Devil’s Cart is rad.

Battlefield 4 – 60 Second TV Spot
It certainly does look like it’s going to be gorgeous.
Battlefield 4 – 17 Minutes of Gameplay
EA just released a full 17 minutes of gameplay from Battlefield 4. Hot damn.
WTC Reviews: SimCity
The Good: The graphics engine is absolutely gorgeous.
The Bad: Server and DRM issues aside, SimCity is a bit of a mess. It plays like a dumbed-down SimCity 4. You can tell EA is going to inundate this game with DLC.
The Final Word: I was really looking forward to this game. I played the shit out of SimCity 2000 and spent a fair chunk of time with SimCity 4. That said, this reboot doesn’t live up to all of the standards set by its predecessors.
SCORE (Out of 10): 6.5
